It’s intersting that many cab and livery drivers do not have English as their native tongue. Back in the days of mass immigration in the 1920s and 1930s, most of the immigrants who took jobs dealing with the public such as streetcar, bus and rapid transit operators were Irish because as Mike Quill’s widow once put it they spoke English "in a way." |
