Re: When will the Bus Network Redesign Studies begin again.

The problem with these studies is that the major goal is reducing operating expenses and not service improvements. Thus is why there was such outrage in Queens. Although redesigns are grossly needed, unless the MTA changes the goals of these studies, it would be better is they never continue.

One only has to read the Brooklyn Existing Conditions Report to understand the goals are not service improvement. They state that Downtown Brooklyn is undergoing the largest amount if growth in the entire Borough. To manage this growth, they further state, the area has a massive subway network, so few buses are needed. There is no discussion of subway capacity or crowding. Just that numerous buses operate along Fulton Street and many aren't necessary.

If these routes are eliminated, the result would be increased crowding, transferring, and travel times. How would this be an improvement for the riders. We do not need bus studies designed to eliminate bus stops, shorten bus routes so only one route operates on any street, and increase walking, and transferring,

We can have a competent bus route redesigns, but only if the MTA is willing to do them and listen to what riders want.
