Sounds like the B81 may have been the line my mother and I took to the Fair in 1964. My parents and I were still living with my grandparents in East New York (near the Newlots Av IRT station). We boarded at the B10 stop on Newlots and Ashford. Bus was a brand new Flxible (though I wouldn't know about the name Flxible until many years later, but even at 5 years old, I could tell that it was a different bus from the Old Looks and Fishbowls that I was used to seeing). The sign was set to a blank position, no World's Fair sign. Maybe that route paralled the route of the 2 subway. Don't remember our route from Ashford, I suspect it used the B10 route, but past Berriman to Dumont, to Fountain to Linden Blvd, passed what would be Times Square Stores and on to Conduit (basically todays B15), Probably Conduit/Belt Pkwy to Van Wyck and on to the fair. I think we took the 7 to the 2 back home. Don't recall if it was a WF special or a regular 7. Don't remember too much about the Fair, except the Monorail, which I though was the coolest thing ever. It was sponsored by sporting good company AMF, whose logo was prominently feature on the front of the cars. Being 5 years old, I assumed AMF had actually built the monorail, I was shocked years later when I saw a commercial for some sporting goods built by AMF.
