It seems like one more item in the tool kit for intersections, in addition to:- regular red/green signals - yellow/red blink lights - 4-way stops, possibly also augmented with double-red blink lights - 2-way stops (or yields), where traffic on the lesser street just has to wait for an opening - overpasses (e.g., major artery streets like Fordham Road or Grand Concourse) And of course it takes more space than any of the above, which will limit its use in NYC. |
