Posted by IRTRedbirdR33 on Sat May 18 04:55:41 2019 Tuscarora Almanac – May 18, 1947 – The Book of Last Runs Manhattan, New York Third Avenue Railway Company This is the last day of operation for the Third Avenue – Amsterdam Avenue trolley line. Cars were assigned to both the 65th Street and Harlem Car Barns and carried a large letter “T” on the front dash sign. Streetcars will be replaced by the M-101 bus line. The barn was home to only one route, the Third Avenue-Amsterdam Avenue trolley. It was converted to the M-101 bus on this date. The barn was located east of Third Avenue between East 66th Street and East 65th Street. Third Avenue (northbound) and Lexington Avenue (southbound) were made one way streets between East 125th Street and East 23rd Street on July 17, 1960.
