Have I said the cameras are there primarily to raise revenue? Yes, some are set up that way, but others provide a clear safety benefit.Technically from a legal perspective, you can be ticketed for doing 26 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. In practice, it rarely happens, and if the officer didn't properly calibrate his or her speed gun prior to pulling you over, chances are you're getting off if you bring it to court. It isn't worth the hassle for the officer to write a ticket in that circumstance. It seems that the problem is you dislike statistics that disprove what you believe. Why don't you contact the NYDN and examine the raw numbers for yourself? |
