That’s similar to the “school trips” operated by NYCT Bus. At one time the school trips which are operated as additional trips on regular routes from schools with heavy dismissal crowds only carried the students. At one point, I believe in the 1980s, the Feds stepped in and ruled that since the MTA was receiving Federal subsidies, the school trips had to accept regular passengers as well. If course I doubt that any passenger in his/her right mind would want to ride in a bus full of screaming high school students, but they were allowed to anyhow. |
