At SEPTA, we have more escalator problems than elevator problems, IIRC. Especially the escalators that are "partially "outdoor, like at Arrott Transportation Center. It was was always crapshoot whether it would work on any given day. Arrott is installing (3) elevators presently, in a big overhaul of the station.So , I'm looking forward to that, with my impairment. Arrott Transportation Center (Margaret/Orthodox Station) Improvements at Arrott Transportation Center (Margaret‐Orthodox Station) on the Market‐Frankford Line that will make the station ADA accessible. Includes installation of one elevator to connect the street and platform level of the elevated station, and two accessible elevators to connect the platform level to the East Station overpass. Other accessibility improvements include new curb ramps, sidewalk repaving and ADA‐ compliant signage. This project also provides for new platforms with tactile edging; repair/replacement of stairways, handrails, new metal wall panels, tile wall finishes, and canopy roof; safety and security enhancements including lighting, security cameras, power and communication system upgrades; and Art‐in‐Transit. |
