Re: Let's Go! NICE Bus: A Multi-Year Transit Vision for Nassau County

I've said for a long time that NY24 (Hempstead Tpke) between Hempstead and Bethpage could really use something into Manhattan (though ultimately CRRLI really needs to be rebuilt), but it seems they just want one stop in Levittown? I'd have to see some more details. What I really don't understand is why try to establish routes to Grand Central when we have ESA coming online?
-Levittown I see as most likely to succeed with Belmont being a close second. If combined, I could see it succeeding.
-Roslyn and Great Neck to Wall St have a decent shot as well since neither is able to get to FBA on a single seat ride (although it's quite idiotic that Roslyn doesn't have 3rd rail, but OB electrification is another discussion), but we already have North Fork Express from Christopher Morley Park at Exit 36.
-Mineola? Seriously? That's just really bad planning. Far from the highway, excellent LIRR service to midtown and FBA (fast connection to Lower Manhattan)
-Hicksville, almost just as bad, but at least it's close to the LIE.

I need more details. Where exactly are they planning on putting the stops? If they're going to waste time traveling into Great Neck station on the way to/from Roslyn, or into both stations on the way to/from Hicksville, I think it's doomed to fail. The achilles heal for this is going to be the LIE through Eastern Queens. Nassau County and the Midtown tunnel has the HOV lane (although the HOV lane does nothing for the Great Neck stop and not much for the Roslyn one either), and if they'd be bold/dumb enough to do express to Lower Manhattan, the new Kosciuszko Bridge combined with the planned bus lanes on the Williamsburg Bridge for the L train replacement buses should keep things moving pretty well.

I do believe express bus service to LI can work, but in very select corridors. It seems they may have gotten one or two right, and that's a big maybe depending on how they want to implement it.
