Most express bus riders are going between home in an outer borough and a destination (work or school) in Manhattan. Few people are using them as premium local buses in Queens, SI, BK or BX. Although I have seen is happen- there are some destinations that'd be very hard to reach by local bus.For example, to reach Concord or Grasmere from Willowbrook or Bulls Head. Right now, during off-peak hours, the X10 will do the trick, albeit at a higher fare. I know this is something the MTA does not encourage, but I've seen people do it. For better or worse, the new SIM4C will prevent it. |
