I think overall, this plan is good, especially the reorganization on the South Shore. The present service plan is a confusing mess, and the new one will present well-organized downtown and Midtown service. Good going!! (I used to live down there - now I'm in Mid-Island/Willowbrook).I think providing weekend service on the sIM2, as well as downtown service all the way to Tottenville (also the SIM2) is great. But I think they've gone overboard eliminating stops on SI. yes, definitely a few can go- but, for example, the x17/A/C stop at Richmond/Morani (Merrill) is busy - I see it when I go jogging around 6:00 AM. And the nearby stops at Lander and Victory are already crowded- and too narrow for more people to wait there safely. I suspect political pressure will force the restoration of most of the eliminated stops. |
