After the FACL takeover of Surface Transportation, the plan was to maintain the red and cream scheme on Surface buses. I have seen a route map of 1956 showing a drawing of the new 1957 Mack C-49's on the cover of the map in those colors. However plans soon changed. As FACL realized it had to replace most Surface buses with FACL's own buses, which were always maintained to a high standard. Rather than costly repaints it was cheaper and quicker to keep the green and cream colors and just change the lettering. So Surface Transit adopted the green and cream out of practical necessity. |
