Third Avenue Transit Corporation After a few months of negotiations, Fifth Avenue Coach Lines acquires Third Avenue Transit Corporation, the parent of Surface Transportation Corporation of New York and Westchester Street Transportation Company, Inc. Surface's six routes in Manhattan, and 42 in the Bronx, are hereafter administered under a newly-created operating subsidiary owned wholly by FACL, Surface Transit, Inc. (Its routes, however, will not be part of FACL's bus route map which will come out in a few months' time.) Westchester Street Transportation will be run by FACL until 1969 when all its routes are sold to Liberty Lines, Inc.
