Or a layout/design error. Sometimes all these things come into play. But yeah, printers have made lulus in certain things over the years.

Just like it would have been mathematically possible for a Route 2, after the 1966 one-way conversions of Fifth and Madison Avenues, to travel up Lenox from 116th to 147th, then turn west on 147th and north on Seventh up to 168th (and conversely, SB buses from Seventh turning east on 146th and then south on Lenox to 116th) - but such a route never actually operated and one 2 - the ex-FACCo route - had to be rebranded "2A" while ex-NYCO 2's north end remained 147th and Lenox.
