Re: Tuscarora Almanac for October 26

Posted by W.B. on Thu Oct 26 11:07:34 2017, in response to Tuscarora Almanac for October 26, posted by IRTRedbirdR33 on Thu Oct 26 08:34:55 2017.

Given New York Railways' 1919 relinquishing of what in its last years up to 1979 was the M12, to the City's Department of Plant and Structures, how did New York City Omnibus (which converted NYR's remaining streetcar lines to bus routes in 1935-36) acquire the franchise - via Green Bus Lines or something?

Also, contrary to what was suggested in the layout of the 1974 Manhattan bus guide, the M12 never traveled over the Williamsburg Bridge to Brooklyn side-by-side with NYCTA's B39 route - nor did any other MaBSTOA route venture into Brooklyn, as it had into Queens (via their QM15/M32/Q32 and QM16/Q89 routes) and of course their Bronx routes.

Though M12's demise was just before SoHo became a "happening" neighborhood, its number was thus available for today's totally unrelated 11th and 12th Avenues line now running.
