Again looking at the rush hour departure board in J. Caronetti's helpful and clear first photo, I see a pair of NJT buses leaving for Hackensack Terminal on two separate routes, the shorter (36 minute) Route 182 and the longer (47 minute) Route 178. Going through Leonia, southern Teaneck, and Bogata, Route 182 appears to replace the #1 Hudson River Public Service trolley that connected the Edgewater Ferry with Hackensack. In a book, I may have seen a photo of a Hudson River trolley crossing Overpeck Creek or the Hackensack River, a short distance north of the way NJT Route 182 crosses both.
---
The joint 178-182 timetable shows 28 weekday departures from GWB on Route 178 and 26 departures on Route 182. Route 178 swings north of the watery terrain, visiting Englewood City Hall and wandering northern Teaneck. It crosses the Hackensack River on Cedar Lane.
---
Buses 178 and 182 do not share routes, but they begin and end at the same terminals, Hackensack and Washington Heights.
