It's virtually impossible to have progressive signals on a two-way street.Not at all, especially where traffic is directional. A lot of times it's desirable to have a "green wave" in the off-peak direction so traffic gets a string of greens, and a reverse green wave in the peak direction so waiting queues can clear out before releasing traffic from the previous intersection. |
