RIPTA stated the following:"No, but everyone has access to one of his last columns which is disclaimed by the editor as "significantly changed due to factual errors."" I responded that nothing was disclaimed by the editor. What I meant by that was that the editor WAS NOT MAKING THE CORRECTIONS BECAUSE HE FOUND THE ERRORS which was the implication in RIPTA's statement. As I stated, the editor was merely apologizing for the errors occurring and I did the responsible thing as a journalist to have them corrected. I even instructed the editor to use strikeout rather than just reprint a corrected article, IN THE INTEREST OF TRANSPARENCY. I could easily have just made the corrections and ask that a corrected article appear. |
