Why is the S79 considered a Select bus route?

From the rider's perspective the most significant feature of Select Bus Service, and the one they must pay attention to, is the on-street fare collection prior to boarding, and the boarding through any door. The dedicated bus lanes and other feature may be important but the riders don't have to notice them or take them into account, but they can't ignore the fare collection system.

So you could argue that without on-street fare collection it ain't SBS, even if all the other elements are in place. That's why I was very surprised to see that the S79 SBS has standard pay-upon-boarding fare collection. To me the S79 should be labeled Limited, not Select. (On the mta.info website the S79 is listed in the local bus category.)

Forgive me if this was discussed before, perhaps when it was first implemented. I noticed it only the other day when I used it for the first time.
