They charge 25 cents per page so if it's a 300 page document, that's $75 and you will probably only be interested in a few pages anyway. That's why most don't bother.There was a story on Channel 2 the other day about the station requesting documents under FOIL to determine the real motives to end the horse drawn carriages in Central Park. Numerous documents were obtained showing the real motive was to increase real estate values where the four stakes are now located, not the animal welfare rights as DeBlasio has maintained. What was interesting is that they had to wait an entire year for a response and one of the pages was 100 percent blacked out. So why us it called "Freedom of Information" when they can send you only what they want to? I bet the document was just to damning. I can't believe national security issues were involved which would make sense in withholding info. |
