Enclosed shopping malls aren't really dying, it was more they were built too large or too close to other ones [or started discouraging lower middle class from shopping there]. Think a combination of natural selection and right-sizing. In colder climates, outdoor strip malls are more likely to have empty storefronts (or may even be abandoned in their entirety). |
