That can be flipped around - the gas tax in theory pays for roads (at least in NY more so than most other states). So if a driver is forced to wait in traffic for longer and travel from A to B in slow stop and go traffic, he is literally paying more for less.Without a rail alternative to that corridor I can't fault people for driving it. A lot of trips involving it would require a double transfer to complete anyway (subway-bus-subway). |
