Very possible that your average speed on the detour would be less than ten mph.The distance traveled on 88 Street is not short at all. It is 11 intersections. In Manhattan, that could take 30 minutes. The travel time up the overpass without any traffic is only about 30 seconds. Add 30 seconds to wait for the light to change and you have one minute. I am saying when there is congestion on the overpass and it takes five minutes to get over it, then if the detour on 88 Street takes 8 minutes, that would be a 3 minute difference. I have not justified bus lanes at all. I have presented a very logical case against them. You claimed that the 73rd Avenue detour is feasible. When I pointed out it would take an extraordinary amount of time, you conclude I justified the bus lanes. Totall nonsense. What you stated dies not follow. |
