Posted by Andy on Sun Nov 29 22:11:49 2015 60 years ago, the B68 Coney Island Avenue trolley made its final run and was replaced with the bus route that still bears the same number. The event marked the first retirement of the 1936-vintage PCC cars in the Brooklyn surface fleet. The remaining two PCC-operated routes, B35 Church Avenue and B50 McDonald Avenue, were ended eleven months later, being Brooklyn’s once-vast trolley car network to a close. |
