According to my mother, prior to WWII bus and streetcar stops were every block. To conserve fuel during nWWII, bus stops were changed to every 2 blocks and recently although I’m not sure of the exact year, the average distance between bus stops was changed to the current every 3 blocks I suspect also to conserve fuel. With the interests of senior citizens and the disabled, I can’t see the distances between bus stops being increased any time soon if at all. |
