Those route numbers 12 and 14 are in a brief news item tucked into the bottom left corner of page 9 of the NY Times, May 21, 1928. The headline is "Railway to Take Over Bronx Buses." "Bus service which the Fifth Avenue Coach Co. has provided since October, 1924, will be taken over by the Surface Transportation Co., a subsidiary of the Third Avenue Railway Co., beginning next Monday morning. Routes no. 12 and 14 are affected by this change. They run, respectively from Mott Avenue and 138th Street to Mosholu Parkway, and from 150th Street and Melrose Avenue to Mosholu Parkway." |
