In 1977, the B1, and discontinued B21 were two of the lowest performers in the system and only warranted 15 or 20 minute service. The modified B1 as it operates today and as I recommended in 1978, now operates at 5 or ten minute headways with even more frequent service when you count the supplemental school service and is ranked 27th out of 182 local bus routes in the city.Other routes such as the B11 also operate more frequenty and carry more passengers. Those facts are indisputable. Compare that success with the MTA''s new routes. |
