To expand on what Lincoln said, it's not just exponentially higher value, it's new capacity under the Hudson. Replacing PABT gets you a shiny new park your bus and maybe a marginal increase in capacity due to slightly smoother operations. But it does nothing to fix the bottleneck at the river. Fixing THAT will take another ten billion dollars worth of tunnel after we've sunk $11+ billion into PABT.Remember when we cancelled a rail tunnel because it was $8 billion? Don't we look more than a little foolish now? |
