FTA stipulates that the buses must be used for commuter operations during peak times (weekday non-holiday rush hours). As long as that condition is met, the operating company can use them for other company needs during off-peak (middays, nights, weekends, major holidays).When the PA was funding the purchases in the 80s, they had the stipulation that buses could not be operated beyond a 75-mile radius of Manhattan - Toms River just made that distance, so NJT could use their PA-owned MC-9s on the 137. |
