We know they have a clean diesel version, they are showing up in quantity in NYC. As to price, that is a different story. When there is Federal grant money or direct funding, you are almost always required to go lowest acceptable bid. No Fed money, many jurisdictions (I don't know the Suffolk rules) allow an evaluated or negotiated acquisition. You can see that difference in MTA's process for the recent MTA/BC versus MTA/NYCT bus purchases. |
