At one time, the M10 went from West 159 Street to Battery Park City. But planners thought that's too long a run. Let's cut it in half and create the M20. That will also give us both buses in Midtown between West 66 St., where the M20 terminates, and Penn Station, where the M10 used to terminate. But that is no longer true, as the M10 terminates at Columbus Circle now.

At one time there was an M6 bus running between Central Park South and South Ferry. But then planners said the MTA can save money by combining it with the M5. So today the M5 travels from the GW Bridge/West 178 Street to South Ferry, an even longer ride than the M10 used to travel.

Did that make any sense? And how is this working out now?
