MTA is changing plans on converting Orion VII hybrid buses to straight diesel buses?

SOLICITATION TITLE: Lead Acid Traction Battery Replacement for Orion Hybrid Buses for NYC Transit Dept. of Buses and MTA Bus Company.

DESCRIPTION:
MTA New York City Transit and MTA Bus Company (the Authority) currently operate a total of 985 Orion VII and Orion NG hybrid buses that utilize lead-acid batteries for energy storage.

Each of these buses has 46 sealed lead-acid batteries housed in two traction battery enclosures (TBE’s or “tubs”) on the roof.

These batteries have an expected lifespan of 2 – 4 years, at which point they will have to be replaced.

This scope of work calls for the Contractor to transport complete buses to and form his or her facility, perform all work related to replacing the batteries at his or her facility.
