The MTA is keeping its buses as very far away from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal area as possible! This is easy to see if one refers to a map of Staten Island, and notes the streets where the buses are running, and the changes to the various routes. Unlike other subway/bus detours often the MTA will provide a map or diagram of the changes - in this case it does not. The cynical within me can think of a number of reasons for these actions, but that is for another time.

To better answer your question - depends upon from where the answers are coming from. Yesterday's Staten Island Advance reported that some buses will be re-routed directly to the Old Town SIR station, while other buses will connect to buses that travel to/from the Old Town SIR station. Yesterday on the MTA website it was possible to view the "Show Route Details" but as I am writing this message, that information is not appearing.

It could simply be that there was a change in the bus plan. The simple explanation for travelers reaching the ferry would be to take the SIR to Old Town, and talk to the MTA staff posted there about the bus one really wishes to take. I'm pretty sure that those on the buses will be told of their transfer options.
