Swiping an unlimited card at a machine gives NYCT an idea of the daily passenger count.I was recently in Toronto. On the buses those with passes flash it to the operator. Management has no idea of what the daily ridership is on the route therefore. The only way to know is by a human traffic checker counting. But at subway interchanges there is also rear door entry so a count would be impossible. |
