Posted by Gold_12th on Sat Jul 26 12:02:33 2014 A cyclist who was struck by an MTA bus driver this morning on the Upper East Side is in critical condition. Police say that around 10:20 a.m., a 33-year-old woman was biking north on Madison Avenue and swerved to avoid a cab making a right turn onto 62nd Street, putting her into the path of the bus.In an email, an MTA spokesman said that it appears the cyclist "swerved to avoid a taxi, lost her balance and fell under the rear end of a M2 bus." The woman was transported to Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition. According to an NYPD spokeswoman, the bus driver and the cab driver remained on the scene. Another cyclist was struck at 12th Avenue and West 40th Street around 9:40 a.m. An FDNY spokesman said the victim, a male, was transported to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition. http://gothamist.com/2014/07/24/cyclist_struck_by_mta_bus_on_ues_in.php |
