Outside of rush hour looking at alternatives is a definite. Semi mirroring the Super Express routing is something being looked at we're looking at either via Second Avenue, the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, Long Island Expressway, Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, and Grand Central Parkway (Astoria Boulevard if GCP is backed up); or via upper level of Queensboro Bridge, Thomson Avenue, Van Dam Street, Borden Avenue, Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, Grand Central Parkway (Astoria Boulevard if GCP is backed up.The above are the most reliable of the options. Even on weekends the LIE tends to back up once you get past the BQE exit which is why the LIE to the Van Wyck Expressway isn't being looked at. Also past the 1:00 on weekdays, you can't take the LIE to the Van Wyck without having to worry about traffic. |
