Question About Dollar Van Operations

I have a question: I'm doing a report for class regarding Caribbean business practices, and one of the topics I wanted to focus on was dollar vans.

A couple of questions:
* From what I've read, it looks like the drivers either use their own vans, or rent one from a dollar van operator, and then they set their own schedule as to when they want to take their breaks, and keep all the money they earn while driving.

* Apparently, they pay the operator an initial fee, and rent a TLC permit from the operator for the day (http://www.gothamgazette.com/index.php/civil-rights/576-the-citys-new-dollar-menu-for-bus-riders). Can anybody tell me a little bit more about this? (What steps does the operator have to take to make sure the permit is going into the right hands, and being used properly)

* Does anybody have a list of (Caribbean-run) routes in the city? Here's what I have so far (mostly gathered from here: http://www.straphangers.org/diaries/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=227565):

* Flatbush Avenue (Cadman Plaza to Kings Plaza)
* Utica Avenue (Eastern Parkway to Kings Plaza)
* Jamaica-Far Rockaway (Does anybody know if they're covering the Q113 LTD or local? I would assume the limited, since it's faster and likely more profitable, but I want to be sure)
* Jamaica-Green Acres (via Q5)
* Remsen Avenue (I'm not sure, but I assume they parallel the entire B17 route, unless Seaview strictly means Remsen/Seaview)

I've also read about dollar cabs (meaning, regular cars rather than vans), running along Church Avenue between East 18th & East 98th. And some starting at Nostrand/Flatbush going east along Glenwood (I'm not sure where to, though)

And does anybody know anything about the ones in The Bronx? I've heard there are a lot of them by the Dyre Avenue station, and the 238th/241st stations on the 2. Somebody mentioned that the ones by 238th/241st go into Yonkers (and Mount Vernon as well, I'm assuming), but I would think that they serve other parts of the NE Bronx as well. Also, are there any that run down Gun Hill Road?
