I work at the Taxi & Limousine Tribunal at 32-02 Queens Blvd, near the 33-Rawson Station. The penalty was a $200-$1500 fine, set by the Administrative Law Judge. On July 10, 2012, Gov. Cuomo signed into law major changes. The penalty for the first violation is now a $1500 fine, and all subsequent violations within a year increases to a $2000 fine. Seizures may still be high, but it used to be much higher. In other words, the law was meant to discourage activities defined by state law as "illegal", and it has done its job. TLC Inspectors, keep up the good work! |
