Posted by Bill from Maspeth on Fri May 17 17:19:20 2013 Came back yesterday following a 10 day vacation there with a few questions and observations.I rode 2 (TMC) RTS' during my stay. I would estimate they have about 15 survivors. The lowest fleet # I saw was 4726, the highest was 4810. All their buses have a long service day, although the roads are in good shape and the operating conditions are easy in regards to traffic, but the w/c lifts are used quite often. They have a lot of NOVA LFS' from 2004 and perhaps even earlier wihich look a lot like the Orion VI with the back window on the left. They also have some from 2010. A few buses have ramps rather than steps going up to the rear, I guess the older ones. One old Nova, IIRC #4842, had a unique red paint scheme. I would think the total fleet of buses is over 300. Roster anyone? They have a bunch of Gilligs from 2011 and 2012, quite frankly they run good. But I just don't trust them for the big city. The buses, except for the RTS' just don't have very much room and the service levels are disappointing. Heaven forbid you are caught in a peak period when Magic Kingdom or Epcot lets out. Artics would be nice! |
