The flaws of the cuts have become more obvious to riders. The Bx30 goes the roundabout way by entering/leaving Co-op from the North. It takes longer to get to the (2) and (D), skips sections and puts you at the 1st stop on the (5) which has its pros and cons. This has always been the case but it was easier to ignore when you had 3 frequent routes (26,28,30) that made all made virtually the same connections. Now you have the least frequent of the three (30), half of the old 28 service and can only get to Norwood. IMO the Bx26 via Allerton was the fastest way to the (2) because there's less on Allerton than Gun Hill. It was already difficult enough to transverse the Bronx W-E but now a once 2 bus ride has become a 3 bus ride. The lack of direct service to Fordham outside most normal hours leads to a loss of connections. I won't say they need full service back on both but there's a valid argument here for restoring something.I never understood why the QBx1 (Q50) was the only limited service within Co-op City. I may be wrong in assuming this but I always thought it would have been better to make the Bx28 Limited at least rush hours between Norwood and Co-op City (same stops as the Q50 in co-op), with the Limiteds running the whole route to Fordham and most locals as the short turns, than to split it into two separate services. They never seem to know what to do what service on that side of the Bronx, the Bx4A/5/8/14/24 mess proved that and its a shame because those riders despite not seeming that far away, actually have to trek to the trains. |
