There was a time before the jitneys that the 84 on Bergenline was running every 5 to 6 minutes, I remember some of the veterans at Meadowlands told me when I was a B/O. With the vast amount of people that Bergenline has, the Jitney buses are, even though I do not like them, a help. Without them, every 84, 156, 159, and 181 would be so packed, you would think you are in a human sardine can.

As for the 190, the reason that line makes revenue is due to the Rutherford passengers. Sure, the bus makes profit on the 190X starting in Passaic to Paterson, but the 190 Rutherford Express buses are almost like the 128 in the morning.....ALMOST. I did the 190X NY from Rutherford a few times and that bus was always full, even with standees.

Metrolinecoach111 is right, sadly, that NJT does not have the resources that it really needs to service everyone, which is a good thing in a way because if the Jitney buses was to go BYE BYE, oy. Just Oy. NJT would have to find ways to get new buses, hire employees, train them, and get them on the road immediately. That costs a ton of money. The training alone costs a few grand compared to a driving school where NJT pays you $10 a hour during training. Buses cost between $350K to $500K a pop (The CNG MCI's at Howell were $450K or $490K IIRC, while the Neo's cost $460K). That means fares will go UP because someone has to pay for this and we all know how NJT is tight now with money, especially while Christie is in office. That's why I so wish Corzine was still there but it is done.
