I don't see how putting +SBS+ on a route automatically means it needs artics. If it could handle the passenger load before +SBS+, then it could handle the passenger load after +SBS+. Ridership may increase, so you'll probably need to increase frequencies a bit, but I don't see a reason to suddenly go to artics. The only possible argument I can think of is that it makes it easier for the fare inspectors to board the bus.And in any case, the S79 isn't get POP. It's just getting TSP, bus lanes, and they're making it into a limited-stop route. So it's basically just a faster version of the current service. Like I said, increase the frequencies a bit. There's no need to go into the logistic problems of having artics in a borough that's currently 100% 40-foot buses. |
