However the fare enforcement target will largely remain on the Subways because the politicians feel more of a need to protect the Subway system from other dangers such as terrorism than the buses. The reason that people do not pay the fare is because they can get away with it especially when you have B/O's who work routes like the B35, B46, or the Bx41 who know NOT to start trouble with any of the riders and when you have Express Bus routes with cult ridership like the X20 where ridership figures were depressed due to non payment of fare. Not to go away from the topic but local buses will always be lower on the priority list than the Subways and Express Buses in the politicians point of view. |
