Something similar to that happened out in L. A. when I was still living there (~ mid-90s). LACMTA 1989 Flxible Metro 2740 was deadheading to or from Division 15 (Sun Valley) when it ran over a mattress on the Foothill Freeway. Mattress got wedged in the undercarriage and caused a fire. Only the B/O was aboard and escape w/out injury, but 2740 was a total loss.:( |
