The 9A went from Mattituck to Orient, though it used back roads unlike the S92.Probably was $7,000 a year, The snip it of the article only said that the county couldn't afford to run the route because it cost $7,000 per riser. Oddly enough back in the 70's (before Suffolk Transit) Coram Bus Service (for runner to the now defunct CBS Lines) asked Suffolk County for that same amount to help run one of their routes. I believe The route was the Smith Haven Mall to Smith Point route, which would go on to be the S74 and itself be cut in 1998 because of low ridership. |
