They should, but thats what you get when you name a agency Long Island Bus even though it doesn't serve all of Long Island.Besides the committee that healed the hearings probably didn't listen to the people that attended. I mean everything that is said to go in effect on May 1st, was said when the announcement was made that there was possibly going to be a fare increase and that was back in November/December of last year. The only thing that was changed was the amount the fare would increase on the S92 and 10C, and that was announced back in January after people balked at having a fare increase of a whole dollar with in a year. There is only one group that is recognized by the Legislative Transit Committee, and its barley even a group, it just one rider who takes the opinions of other riders and reports what she hears to the committee. The group is so not known that the only way I found out about it was by reading about it in a Local Riverhead paper that did an article about how Legislator Schneiderman was upset that the fare increase was taken "his" fifty cents (for Sunday Service on other routes). Though I doubt it would have worked a second time. He also miss represented facts about the Sunday Service Program. (It was mentioned on here through Newspaper sources that the start of Sunday Service didn't do well, and it was reported that due to the need of Para Transit buses it went over budget) He only claimed the out come and not the problems at the start and he claimed that Sunday Service paid for itself. |
