Mott Avenue buses and vans

I spent a few minutes yesterday afternoon walking about Mott Avenue, Far Rockaway, near the subway station. What surprised me was the apparently varied competition to MTA buses. There were at least 3 categories of vehicles picking up passengers: light-weight buses with aisles, vans like Econolines, car services with T-C plates and car services with regular plates, honking without cease. I don't expect the car services to display destinations and routes, but the vans and small buses were obviously in business, going somewhere, but without signs. The Q-113 and the Nassau County routes had plenty of passengers, but the other vehicles did too. I overheard a passenger inquire of a van driver, "You going down the beach?," so I suspect some of the independents run parallel to the shore, like the Q-22. The A train passengers appeared relatively few.

Anybody know where those vans and small buses go?
Thanks.
Joe
