A 22-year-old Queens woman was mowed down by a city bus yesterday at a notorious Flushing intersection that’s been ranked among the most dangerous in the city.Meilan Jin was killed at Northern Boulevard and Union Street when an out-of-service Q44 bus hit her while making a wide right turn at around 8:15 a.m. — and kept going. An MTA spokesman said the driver, whom a source identified as a woman, was “apparently unaware” that someone had been struck as the bus turned onto Northern Boulevard. Jin’s roommate, who declined to give her name, said her friend was likely on her way to catch a van to her job at a Westchester nail salon when she got hit. “She was very honest, always happy,” the woman said. “She worked hard and tried to save some money.” A Flushing HS student aboard another Q44 bus at the time of the accident said Jin was running when she was smacked by the bus. “It really hit her hard,” the student said in tears. “She was unconscious, just dead.” Between 1995 and 2009, 92 accidents involving pedestrians occurred at the infamous crossroads, said Michael Murphy, a spokesman for the advocacy group Transportation Alternatives. “It’s a notoriously high-crash intersection for pedestrians,” Murphy said.
