As part of the service adjustments and additions, we are proposing to add a new n22 Express Route. This proposal came from an extensive audit of the system that took place over several months in late 2011 and early 2012. We analyzed all the stops on each route, recorded passenger counts by stop throughout the day and night, and studied mobility patterns across the County. Most importantly, we talked to our riders. We got out on the buses and met the people who rely on us every day.

We learned that many of you wanted a faster way to connect to the New York subway for your morning and evening commute. With these riders in mind, we designed two new express routes: the n22 Express and the n6 Express. Both routes are proposed to begin running on April 8th, 2012. There will be no additional charges to ride the proposed express buses. The charge will be the same $2.25 that it costs to ride any bus.

The n22 Express will connect Hicksville, Roosevelt Field, and the 179th St. subway stop in Jamaica, Queens. We designed this new proposed route to get our riders to the 179th St. subway station easier and faster, while still servicing all of the most popular stops for commuters to hop on. It is a great complement to the existing 22 routes.

How It Works:

---The route will make all local stops between Hicksville and Roosevelt Field. From Roosevelt Field, the route will run express to the 179th St./Hillside Avenue subway station in Jamaica.
---After the 179th St. stop, the route will continue to make all local stops to the 165th St. Bus Terminal.
---We will still run the n22L, the n22 and the n22A.
---Please note that we are proposing to make improvements on the 22L as of April 8th as well. It will continue to make all local stops except between Hillside Avenue/Willis Ave and Westbury Ave/Cherry Lane where it will only stop at Glen Cove Road/Westbury Ave. It will no longer operate to Old Country Road or Mineola Blvd. For stops along those streets, please use the n22.
---The proposed n22 Express comes every 30 minutes, as does the n22L, n22a and n22. The combined impact of all these routes means that one of the 22 buses will come about every ten minutes.
