In the 1960s, they refused to operate any artics saying they weren't suitable for NY. In the 1950s they insisted that the subways could never be air conditioned because the stops were too close and the cars would not be able to maintain a cool temperature. Even after the BMT/IND was successfully air conditioned, they maintained that IRT cars were too small to hold A/C units and those cars could not be air conditioned.Any wonder why they have zero credibility? They have been wrong or have lied so many times. |
